The Children's Hospital & Medical Center Diabetes Clinic offers an extensive multidisciplinary team consisting of pediatric endocrinologists, pediatric nurse practitioners, nurse educators, social workers, dietitians and child life specialists, many of whom are Certified Diabetes Educators. Our program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting national standards for diabetes patient education. It is the only pediatric-specific program recognized in the state of Nebraska.
Once patients are seen, letters are sent to referring physicians that detail recommendations, a plan of care and education opportunities. This helps to develop cooperative working arrangements with private physicians.
Most children are seen on an outpatient basis, and overnight accommodations are available at the Carolyn Scott Rainbow House located near Children's in Omaha.
