The Department of Radiology at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha is committed to providing complete radiology and imaging services for the evaluation of pediatric disease.
Our equipment and protocols are specifically designed or modified for young patients.
Our team of pediatric-trained specialists knows the joys and quirks of working with kids: some diagnostic tests can seem scary; sitting still for a long time can be tough; and sometimes, you just need a hand to hold, a reassuring word and the distraction of TV, music or a playful mural.
Here at Children's, we're also acutely aware of what kids don't need: any more radiation than is absolutely necessary to obtain the most accurate images possible. Our computer tomography (CT) doses are "child size" to decrease the long term cancer risk to children. We also provide alternatives to CT, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound.
