U.S. News & World Report Rankings

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in three pediatric specialties in the new 2016-17 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings: Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery and Orthopedics.

The Best Children’s Hospitals rankings highlight U.S. News’s top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in 10 specialties. This year, U.S. News surveyed 183 pediatric centers; 78 were ranked in at least one specialty, based on a combination of clinical data and reputation with pediatric specialists.

“This recognition reflects our enduring commitment to providing the highest quality of subspecialty care for the children and families we serve,” said Carl Gumbiner, M.D., senior vice president of medical affairs and Children’s chief medical officer. “We’re honored and humbled to be a part of this elite group, and we’ll continue to challenge ourselves to further improve care to benefit children from across the region.”

U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or lifethreatening illnesses find the best medical care available. The rankings open the door to an array of detailed information about each hospital’s performance.

“The Best Children’s Hospitals highlight pediatric centers that offer exceptional care for the kids who need the most help,” said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “Day in and day out, they deliver state-ofthe-art medical care.”

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists. Survival rates, adequacy of nurse staffing, procedure volume and much more can be viewed on
