Nutritional Care
The clinical dietitians in the Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinic are specially trained to work with children who present with sub-optimal weight gain, those receiving tube-feeds, children on specialized diets, those with milk and soy protein intolerance, children diagnosed with Celiac Sprue disease, and a variety of other diagnoses as requested by the physician. The dietitian will evaluate and assess diet adequacy, intake patterns, whether or not estimated calorie needs are being met, strategies to optimize macro and micro-nutrient intake, and provide education and any additional assistance as needed. A food plan will be shared with the caregiver and patient and assessed periodically by the dietitian and physician to make adjustments as needed.
