The Healthy Eating with Resources, Options and Everyday Strategies (HEROES) program at Children's Hospital & Medical Center is a stage III, medical-directed, multi-disciplinary program designed to address childhood obesity. To qualify for this program, patients must:
- be referred by their physician
- must meet certain medical requirements.
This section was designed to help provide you the information you need to determine if your patient qualifies for the program and to expedite the referral process.
The HEROES clinic is an active participant with the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions' (NACHRI) FOCUS on a Fitter Future II. Launched in September 2009, this group has brought together children's hospitals across the country to address challenges associated with treating childhood obesity in the clinical setting. Self-defined work objectives created by the group include, but are not limited to, the development of treatment standards of care to minimize practice variability, policy development, infrastructure building, research and the development of standards for a healthy hospital. The HEROES staff is proud of its collaboration with NACHRI and we are excited about the benefits our involvement will provide to our patient population.
