How to deal with your feelings/mixed emotions.

It is normal to have many mixed emotions when your baby is in the NICU. Everything is new and strange - people, noises, equipment and routines. As parents, you may feel angry, depressed or possibly guilty. Feelings of sadness are also common in these times. You may ask, "What did I do wrong? Why our baby?" Most likely it was not anything you or your partner did, but you may still feel guilty. Everyone deals with these worries in their own way. Talking with staff members and other parents may help you through difficult times in the NICU. Usually you will find out you are not alone in your feelings.
