The recent airing of Thin, a documentary that debuted on HBO and follows the lives of several women seeking treatment for their eating disorders, and the recent death of Brazilian model, Ana Carolina Reston, refocuses the grim realities for those suffering from eating disorders.  Eating disorders can cause very serious medical complications and can be fatal if not treated quickly and properly. 

Children's Hospital offer specialized treatment for children in our region battling disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.  The Eating Disorders Program at Children's Hospital is nationally recognized as a treatment center for very young children with eating disorders. 

The Eating Disorders Program at Children's Hospital is the only one of its kind in the region specializing in the treatment of children with eating disorders, and offers an individualized treatment plan that addresses psychological, medical and family problems associated with eating disorders.  We provide a multidisciplinary team of professionals including a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, board-certified pediatricians, psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, exercise therapist, nurses and a teacher. 
With a continuum of care that involves an inpatient treatment program, a partial hospitalization program, and outpatient treatment, children are assured a course of treatment best suited to their individual needs.

Children's Hospital serves as the primary inpatient teaching site for the joint Creighton University/University of Nebraska pediatric residency program.  Children's also serves as the pediatric training site for the family practice residency programs at the University of Nebraska and Creighton University, as well as for many of the region's nursing and health profession schools.
