Child life specialists strive to maintain your child’s growth and development during hospitalization. Child life works in conjunction with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and the resource educator to work towards common developmental goals.
Child life offers:
• Developmental Assessments – A screening tool child life specialists use to assess the fine and gross motor skills, language, cognitive, and social development of your child. Child life specialists typically complete these assessments through a play session with your child.
• Individual Play Plans – A plan that includes your child’s individualized goals, favorite activities, developmentally appropriate toys, and information on how to comfort your child.
• Resources for caregivers related to typical developmental milestones
