PGY1 Curriculum

Our residency program provides valuable training in various core rotations; generally they are 4 to 8-week sessions, which include:
• Orientation
• Medical/Surgical- General Pediatrics
• Acute Care
     • Neonatal Intensive Care
     • Pediatric Intensive Care
• Oncology/Hematology
• Practice Management
• Therapeutics & Policy Development
• Projects/Research

The following is a sample of elective rotations available. This residency is designed to cater to the needs and interests of the resident, providing several opportunities:
• Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship
• Pediatric Liver Transplant
• Cardiology/Heart Transplant- Ambulatory included
• Level 3 NICU
• Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant
• Adult Intensive Care
• Emergency Medicine

In order to provide a well-rounded relevant program, the following experiences are also included in the program:
• Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee member
• Medication safety and Drug policy development
• Drug Utilization Evaluation
• Hospital Committee Involvement
• Code Training and Experience/PALS Certification/BLS Certification
• Precepting/Didactic Lecture Opportunities
• Teaching certificate program in conjunction with Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions
• Leadership case series in conjunction with Nebraska Medicine
