The Hubbard Center for Children is more than just another building under construction on Dodge Street.
“The Hubbard Center is such an exciting part of our enterprise. It’s a physical manifestation of our vision,” says Richard Azizkhan, MD, President & CEO of Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. “We can start to think about what that reality is going to be in terms of improving our services, access for patients, and our capacity. Seeing that future come alive is incredibly exciting.”
Dr. Azizkhan adds that the Hubbard Center will double the space available to provide inpatient care for children, most of whom have complex, high-acuity medical needs. This will also include more space for operating rooms, radiology and imaging, emergency medicine, and ICU beds.
John Makari, MD, Division Chief of Pediatric Urology, explains, “There’s a commitment to innovation in the Hubbard Center — through technology, through innovative care delivery models — this is a reflection of that vision of discovery and innovation.”
The Hubbard Center will not only meet existing needs in the community. Its vision extends into the future. As Ruben Quiros, MD, Division Chief of Gastroenterology, explains, “At the end of the day, kids are the future. That’s the best investment you can have.”
