My Medical Specialty: Pediatric Critical Care
female | Speaks: English

As a pediatric intensivist I have dedicated my career to caring for patients when they are at their sickest and most vulnerable.  For families, the time they spend with their child in the ICU is one of the most difficult things they will ever face.  I feel that my job in the ICU is not only to care for these critically ill children but to also care for their families and help them through their stay with us.

My primary clinical interests are in the care of infants/children with cardiac disease as well as patients requiring ECMO -Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation which is essentially a way to support the heart, lungs or both with a pump outside of the body.  ECMO is the highest level of support that we can provide in the ICU and requires a large number of resources and a very specialized care team.  For pediatric patients in Nebraska and some neighboring states, Children’s is the only place where it is provided.  As the Director of ECMO at Children’s, I am extremely proud of our team and the care that we deliver.  In 2020 our program was awarded the Platinum Center of Excellence designation by the largest ECMO organization in the world, the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization. The platinum designation is the highest level achievable, and this designation is for a 3-year term then requires reapplication.
