Emergency Vs. Urgent Care

Children’s offers both urgent and emergency medical care for our patients. Our urgent care clinics are conveniently located throughout the Omaha area and have both evening and weekend hours. And our emergency department is always open.

Not sure if your child should be seen by their pediatrician, a provider at one of our urgent care clinics, or our emergency department? In general, here are some points to consider:

Urgent Care

Urgent care clinics are walk-in acute care centers. This means we treat illnesses and injuries that need immediate care, but are not serious enough to warrant a trip to the emergency department.

We want to make sure that your child can get care right away. That’s why we have three convenient locations with evening and weekend hours.

Emergency Medicine

The emergency department at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center treats children and young people up to age 21 who need immediate medical care. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our physicians and nurses are specially trained in pediatric emergency medicine and have additional expertise in easing your child’s anxiety or concerns that might come with emergencies.
